The Shrum family will hold a reunion at 5 p.m. on Saturday in the Pines shelter at the Edinburg Park. Barbecue chicken and paper goods will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share.

Shenandoah County Relay for Life will hold a banquet at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Woodstock Moose Lodge to honor cancer survivors, metavivors and caregivers.

Tickets are on sale for the Winchester SPCA CHAIR-ity brunch to be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 25 at the George Washington Hotel in Winchester.

The event features upcycled CHAIRS, a paw print-inspired art auction, a few rounds of musical chairs, a champagne toast, and brunch highlighted by a seasonal mimosa. Warren Memorial Hospital will begin a 12-month diabetes prevention program in September for adults at risk for type 2 diabetes and/or heart disease. You may be eligible for this program if you do not have diabetes, and you are overweight and have one or more of the following risks: elevated blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, large waist measurement, abnormal blood fat levels or a history of gestational diabetes.

The Shenandoah Arts Council is seeking veteran artists to submit up to three pieces of work to be considered for inclusion in its annual Veterans Art Show.

The submission deadline is Oct. 1. Artists will be notified of selection by Oct. 8.

The exhibition will be on display during the month of November in the lobby of Selah Theatre at 811 S. Loudoun St. in Winchester. A Veterans-based theatrical production will be offered simultaneously, We Will Remember, A Tribute to Veterans.
